About Highland Animal Hospital

In January 2001, Dr. Carl H. Fortna joined the veterinary team at Highland after practicing small animal medicine and surgery in Berks County, PA, for 6 years, becoming one of three veterinarians employed at the time. In 2009, with the practice expanding and having long outgrown its original walls, the present-day existing 8,500-square-foot facility was built. Highland Animal Hospital moved next door on an adjacent piece of farmland. In 2012, Dr. Brandon K. Mattson joined our team after working in a veterinary emergency/referral hospital in Northeast PA, becoming one of five veterinarians employed at the time.

On February 19, 2016, Drs. Fortna and Mattson became the new owners of Highland Animal Hospital. What began as a one-veterinarian practice with two examination rooms and one employee has grown into a multiple-veterinarian practice providing small animal healthcare in the greater Lehigh Valley.

Although the practice has grown in size, Highland Animal Hospital continues to strive to provide the same comfortable and friendly atmosphere that it has for over 30 years.
